Brief de Design de Logo

We need a logo design for the Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS), recently legally established in March 2011 as a regional, independent, non-profit organization headquartered in Beirut, Lebanon. The Council is dedicated to strengthening social science research and research capacity in the Arab world. It aims to promote a strong and vibrant social science community by facilitating and supporting networking and the collaborative production of knowledge between individuals and institutions within the region and beyond. Its structure includes a General Assembly, an elected Board of Trustees and a Secretariat headed by the Director assisted by an Associate Director.

While this institution has been long in the planning and establishment (since 2005), it is an institution whose time has come. The new developments in the Arab region make clear the need for, and importance of, an institution that would bring together the best scholars working in and on the region to engage in collaborative research, capacity building, networking and dissemination.

*** Note: we are only accepting submissions from Arab designers and artists either located in the Arab region or in the Arab diaspora, and who thus have deep familiarity of the region. Applicants, when uploading their logo submission, should include in the “Concept” section a brief bio of 250 words describing their background and place of work, and links to their website and previous designs.***

Once selected, the final logo should be handed over in a 6:1 to 6.25:1 format. That is, if the logo is 600 pixels wide, it should be around 96 to 100 pixels tall. Color and styling are presently undecided; feel free to play with ideas. Finally, the logo will be visible on three different language versions of our website (English/French/Arabic). Should you decide to use text please keep in mind that this should be in Arabic only or somehow work in all three languages as seen in the supporting file (see attached).
