Brief de Design de Logo

April-10-2016 Note: If you are someone considering starting working on this contest, please know what I have well developed designs in progress. If you choose to submit, then I encourage you NOT to present something basic. If something brilliant comes to your mind, then send me the rough version. If I like it, we'll refine it.

I need a logo for my company - WeND.

The company makes what is called a Tide Clock which is a digital clock that goes on the wall and tells you where the ocean tides are on a given day. The clock isn't as visually pleasing as the ones you will find on Amazon.com (search on 'Tide Clock'). It's basically a plastic box with a touchscreen. The reason that I'm telling you this is because we are offering a somewhat clunky, electronic device to go on the wall. The company is geeky, and that technical aspect should be represented, as humble confidence, but I also want that softened to be more accessible to regular people.
Our customers will be ocean lovers who sail, boat, fish, surf, etc, so aquatic abstractions would be cool, but definitely no pictures of fish or surfers. Water and wind elements, especially tide themed, are welcome. In my mind, if there's going to be a concrete element then that would be a sailboat or seagulls. These tie the wind (WeND) to the ocean and tides. Use your creativity to show me other ideas as well.
Other tidbits. I do enjoy water color paintings. I am not a fan of bright red.
This logo will go on the web page and will be printed on labels that will go on the box. I'll want a modified version that can be printed clearly in black and white.

Notes:
* I uploaded a photo of the device we are marketing.
* I uploaded a photo that I really like - just for reference - it doesn't need to be just like that, but I do own that painting and so you can literally cut/paste from it.
* Just a reminder that 'WeND' is a play on the English word 'Wind'. If adding lines to the design, I prefer flowing, curvier lines over straight lines. Wend itself means "to go in a specified direction by an indirect route."

• The logo - spelled like that.

Bien d'avoir

• Seagulls are coming out as the favorite of my suggestions. Is a 3D seagull possible? Sailboats are a close second. Other ideas are welcome.
• I included a picture of a seagull that I like - it's coming toward the viewer. I'd prefer that its head be aimed in the direction of travel.

• So that the viewer knows that it's a seagull rather than some other kind of bird, the logo should include water. This is the sequence of connection I'm looking for.
• WeND -> Wind -> Seagull -> Ocean
• Also, the seagull should not be flapping its wings, but instead riding the wind.
• Feel free to explore creativity in expressing seagull. 1 or 2 seagulls. No more.
