Brief de Design Wordpress

I currently have a website for our vacation/holiday rental home. It is 6 years old and needs a complete redesign to acommodate many new features available today. The existing website can be seen at www.barbadosholidaylettings.co.uk . The purpose of the website is mainly to provide useful infomation about our home, the destination of Barbados. The customer is also able to check availability and book. Please note that there is a booking element to the website which is hosted externally. This can be seen at

I now wish to add key functionality such as:

- Video of property and area
- Customer video testimonials
- Other useful information

The navigation, menus and buttons need to be re designed to give a modern, innovative and professional look and feel.

My customers are mainly females between the ages of 35 and 55. The website needs to reassure customers who are parting with a lot of mony by booking online. It needs to give a sense of trust as this may be a once in a lifetime trip which they have saved up for for a long time. Many visitors to the website will be referred by other websites such as www.homeaway.co.uk and www.holidaylettings.co.uk.

Thank you for taking the time to write some further comments to you all. 

1. The homepage should have an availability search function as a key feature

2. The look and feel does NOT need to have the 3 feature columns like my current website has

3.  There should not be too much text on the homepage. Brief text can be included with 'more'  buttons to reveal more information 

4.  For designs that are under consideration, we will need to see a design for the other pages as they will be different to the homepage. Information from other pages on the existing website can be used.

Dear all,


Thank you for your designs.  I apologise that I am unable to give detailed feedback on each and every design submitted.  I will contact you individually and indicate whether we would like you to submit any further designs.  These should take into account the feedback below.

Feedback from design review group

1.  Logo should not be displayed in a white box.  It should blend in with the background or be overlayed onto the picture.

2.  There must be an availability calendar on the home page.

3.  Any background image should be subtle, maybe blurred and not distract from the main area.

4.  Text should be limited to a few key words with a 'read more' button to reveal more information.

5.  A gallery/slide show should be featured in the top part of the screen

6.  Icons can be used as navigation buttons

7.  Video testimonials is a key feature and should appear on the home page

8.   The use of bold and vibrant colours is preferred

9.   The 3 column format of the old website should not be copied
