Brief de Design de Logo

Our group name: Trans Lives Matter
Our group slogan: "It's that simple."

We have this brand new group called Trans Lives Matter. We are a direct service nonprofit run by the transgender community we serve. Our goals are to lower the horrific unemployment rate in our community, help people get their GEDs/diplomas and further education, and provide housing for homeless folks in our community.

Our first program is called Transition to Wealth. It's a microenterprise training program to help trans folks start our own small businesses.

I'm not entirely certain what I'm looking for in a design. Here's some parameters I'm looking for.

What I don't want:

Butterflies, cocoons, flowers...any sort of frilly thing that connotes some kind of transformation. It's been done to death and it's tired.

I don't want to use the transgender symbol. It'd be an easy identifier, but from what I've seen, trans groups who incorporate that into their design usually turn out to be fly by night operations that don't do much before they disappear. We're in this for the long haul. I don't want to jinx us.

We've talked about it, and pretty much feel like we don't want a person as part of the logo. If we had a person, it would just be too complicated.

Things we like:

When the design looks as good printed in black and white off someone's printer as it does in color on a website.

A design easily recognizable from 10 or 15 feet away. "Oh, look, that's a TLM T-Shirt!"

What we need:

A design that triggers thoughts about strength, community, security, unity and diversity, hope, and growth.

We don't really have any thoughts about color or style. That's why we're here to hire some professionals.
