Brief de Web Design
We are looking for a design for a new website we are about to launch called GroupCellar.com. GroupCellar.com is an online discount wine site that will focus on selling only one wine at a time. (This potentially may become two or three wines at a time in the future but only one for now). The wine that is up for sale will not actually be sold until a pre-set number of buyers “the group” commits to buying the wine. If the threshold of buyers is not met then the wine is not sold. This group aspect is what makes the site unique. By only selling the wine when the group commits to buying it we are able to deliver them a great wine at a fantastic price.
The website should convey a fun feeling while also indicating that this is a place where serious wine enthusiasts can shop. We will be providing information, ratings, and reviews about the wines that are currently on sale.

Doit avoir
- Below is a list of specifications for the website:
1) Main page with our logo (which includes green, purple, and a magenta wine color) that showcases the current wine that's for sale
- The site’s main focus should be on selling ONE bottle of wine at a time at group rate.
- The site should capture the group buying concept as this is what differentiates our site from the others. Visitors to the site should get the sense that they are part of a special community that is getting a great deal because they are buying the wine as a group.
- A meter or better yet an animation should be used to indicate if the tipping point has been met for a sale. We’d like to see some creative ideas here.
- Nice high-res photo of the wine bottle
- Detailed description of what kind of wine it is, where the wine is from, type of grape, wine spectator and other ratings, description of what it tastes like. We would like the option to provide as much detail here as possible.
- Breakdown on what the prices are per bottle and the discount we're giving. We would like to show the original price as compared to the GroupCellar.com price.
- Potentially show a list of upcoming wines. Maybe not the exact wine that will be for sale next but some info to entice users to keep checking.
2) User Account Log in
- Ability to create and log into a personal account
The personal account should be able to:
-store users' credit card and shipping information as well as past orders
-allow you to opt in or out of group cellar emails
-potentially store wine preference or ratings information
-refer a friend option where you get some kind of incentive
3) The Group Concept. The website design must include a few aspects that identify GroupCellar.com as a social site, not simply a wine sale site.
- Some kind of indicator showing if the group threshold has been met or not. We would like to see some type of animation with wine bottles filling up, or grapes on a scale-something that would change as the number of people buying into the sale increase.
- Button to join the group purchase
4) General Site Content must include:
- Email link to send questions to support
- Information on how shipping works and other FAQs
- Legal disclaimer
- Links to Facebook and Twitter
Bien d'avoir
- It would be nice to have a discussion board where GroupCellar members can discuss wines.
Ne doit pas comporter
- The design should not be for a general wine store that sells a variety of different wines.
