Brief de Design de Logo

We need a logo for a new cafe, opening in late July, in Melbourne.

The cafe name is ethos cafe (note lower case). It's a place that seeks to provide top notch food and drinks, feels like a home from home and supports the local community (incl. raising money for 3 selected charities). Produce will be locally and/or ethically sourced, where practical. We will also respect our planet with maximum recycling, use of recycled materials and reduced wastage of energy, water and other resources.

We have played with the idea of a coffee stain, but it seems so "common". We want a design that's fairly simple and can potentially be used on stamps for takeaway coffee cups, paper bags etc. As a result, the final logo needs to look good in colour or just black.

Much as we'd like to see our 'ethos' incorporated into the logo, we're not sure how. How do you illustrate a cafe that is about more than just the bottom line?

We're also not averse to a logo that has nothing to do with coffee/cafes!
