Brief de Design de Poster

El Festival del Libro seeks a poster for an inaugural book festival targeted to the Latino community in New York City.

El Festival del Libro is the first Latino book festival to take place in East Harlem, New York City, an urbanized community historically known as Spanish Harlem; and popularly and affectionately known as "el Barrio". A virtual melting pot of Latino cultures, this migrated, transplanted community, deeply steeped in traditional values, is recognized for celebrating music, food, and its oral histories. It now chooses to celebrate its stories, histories and traditions through the books that tell its stories; and through its poets and authors.

We would like to see designs that use (a) book(s) as its primary element, with backgrounds that reflect a sense of 'home' with the passion to succeed, and love of family that universally drive Latino culture. Graphic elements can also include musical notes (representing composers and lyricists); pen and paper (representing playwrights and script writers); and a microphone (representing spoken word poets).
