Best to avoid red letters on anything brown or tan. Cream would be OK - but the background color will affect the red.
This is not just an opinion - these are well-known outdoor advertising criteria. I would start with white background.

Thanks for your professional opinion. Lets start with white. You can scratch the brown or tan. Maybe a very light creamy if you think that looks okay. Otherwise feel free to choose colors you think would look good.

A darker red - like a burgundy - looks good on a cream background - but that may be too elegant for petroleum sales.
I'll show you a couple of different ways to approach the red and white. A colorful sign is best achieved with the background being a color, with white letters. I'll try and have something later today or first of the week.

If you make it in Vector format we can scale it to any size. Matter is "Park Avenue Mart".

Thanks for the invitation but this is actually a logo design rather than just a signage design.
I'd be happy to produce a logo but not for this budget.
