Australian Marriage Equality - New Logo
Add your question or comments below
Hey Everyone - this is just a quick update.
So far we have seen a lot of designs with male/female symbols, brides/grooms, hearts and equal signs.
The male/female symbols and brides/grooms are an absolute no.   Regardless of how you arrange them they are unworkable and will be eliminated.
Hearts and equal signs are most probably not going to get any attention unless your design is unique, iconic and wearable, and by wearable I mean that Joe Bloggs and Jane Dole will be happy to wear it.  The logo must have a broad appeal across the general public.
Primary colours, bright and fresh, simple - these are the main points we are looking for.
The HRC equal sign is iconic, so simple: equal.  But we cant copy that, partly because it is bad form but also because Elizabeth Birch, who was the CEO at HRC and the driving force behind the equal sign logo when it was chosen, is going to be helping us choose a logo.  (Having Elizabeth on board this process is like having royalty!)
The Freedom to Marry logo is clever: love, home, equal.  It isnt as iconic as the HRC logo but it drives a narrower focus.
If you have any questions feel free to write to me.  I am really looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with.  I wish you all the very best in this contest.
