Brief de Design de Logo

I need a logo for a local cafe called Salem Wiches. It is a definite play on words, as it's a sandWICH and coffee shop located in a town that shares its name with the famous Salem, Mass (which is historically known for the witch trials). Because of this, the logo MUST have a clever double meaning or use negative space. Also, it shouldn't be too "witchy" or Halloween looking. No cartoons, please! Ideas: apple, apple core, coffee bean, coffee cup, black cat, cauldron, old fire hearth... witch's hat, broom or silhouette (but VERY subtle or tricky to spot if using a witch idea), or something else I haven't thought of :)

I am also a fan of the retro "crest" look, so it can be enclosed inside a shape. It will be used on coffee cups, round stickers, etc. Think Starbucks.

2 colour is nice to have, but should also work as 1 colour. Red, white and black. It should work with or without the text or the tagline "gourmet coffee & paninis".

I have no preference for fonts. Serif or san serif or script -- as long as it's clear and easy to read. **no tacky fonts like chiller, curlz, jokerman, etc.**
