Brief de Design de Logo

I am seeking a logo for my business intellerati based on a the initial - a lower case "i". I like the look of the "i" shown on this page:

it is in bold Garamond. However it needs a design element in order to trademark it - perhaps some bourder around it to make it chicklet like and or a swoosh like element involvint the dot over the "i". or may hust do e absolute barest minimum to make it unique and trademarkable. I prefer clean minimalist elegant design. Apple has always been an inspiration. I like it in black and white because intellerati is a research firm and b&w are evocative of the world of print and research. Something typewriter-y. If you want to try a color with the black I'm open to blue as an accent. The shade shown as an accent color on our website.
