Hello,
won't you accept stock images that can be purchased later?

thanks

par Porteur De Projet le jeudi 11 juin 2015

Sorry, but I won't do that. Stock images at best come with a non-exclusive licence, or if I'm lucky, non-exclusive copyright. I want to be sure I have full exclusive rights, particularly to prevent later spoofing. Also the costs of stock images can sometimes be extremely high, particularly if I use the images for book, and associated website etc.

Thanks for the question, and sorry the response is not so positive.

best regards

Thank you all for the designs so far - there are some really good designs, and choosing is going to be very difficult. The ideas and creativity are just wonderful. I tried leaving feedback for some of the designs but the system wouldn't let me. I suspect I am supposed to give a rating before I can send feedback. I do have some general comments. Because these are designs for a book cover, some indication of back and spine should be included, but of course could be sorted out after selection. The other general point about those designs which have indicated lettering on the spine, keep in mind that there is an important difference between the English speaking world books and many continental books. For most English speaking world books, the spine lettering should be such that the bottom of the spine words is nearest the back cover; for many continental speaking countries, the bottom of the spine lettering is nearest the front cover....and don't forget to leave a space at the bottom of the back cover for logo and ISBN number.

I am now in the selection phase of this project, so I have reduced the number of designs to a shortlist. This is where the tough part of the project starts. I will have to turn down most designs - but that means turning down some very good work by several designers. Sorry about that. It's a bit like job interviews where i only have one job available, so most applicants will be rejected, even if they are perfectly good and suitable applicants. i have the same problem here - rejecting many very good designs that could work also. For those on my shortlist, if I send a question about the design, please try to answer promptly so I can keep on top of this - but I do understand 'busy'!

As part of the shortlisting process, I had a poll and listened to what the respondents have to say. as you imagine I have had a fascinating variety of comments and votes.

Thanks for replying, and posting the two new designs. The new designs are not what was said in my feedback. The space on the back coveronly needs about 38mm - that leave enough space for both logo and barcode. There is no need to put the barcode above the logo - it's on the same level - just have one 38mm space at the bottom of the back cover. You have two main designs: 6423979 - that's your first design. On the back cover of that, simply move the whole illustration up by 38mm that leaves enough space for barcode and logo (it's not a big logo). Your second design is 6547198. That added the red legal picture to behind the bomb. The bomb is now transparent so some of the red can be seen behind the bomb. Just make the bomb solid, so the rest of the red scales can be seen, but not any red behind the bomb.
