A 3d element. i don't think 2d font will work.

We need to update our logo. It's a comedy club in Sydney - kings cross. . I need it to be classic, but have a modern edge.

Please look at my sample link below. Old school, scirpt, neon, with a blend of modern text, there can be two font styles.
