Brief de Design de Logo

Gutter BrudderZ is a an apparel company based out of Atlanta. I require a professional touch to enhance and give artistic flare to my logo concept. This logo will be used as the back drop to my website as well as a branding symbol on my products. The logo itself is fairly simple, and currently I prefer to keep it that way, I am looking for something sleek as well as simple. The logo is merely a Circle with a Happy Face in the middle, yet this happy face has fangs and sheds tears and in it's fore-head a symbol is embedded (referred to as Unex). Attached file 5 has a sample of the current website back drop. Ultimately I am looking for something closer to the sketches in attached file's 1 and 2.

This is my first time using this site, I feel that in one day I have seen quite a bit of zeal from a few earnest designs.  I am going to guarantee the money and as becomes more competitive I may have to increase the prize money.  I appreciate everyone's hard work, thank you and good luck!!!

I do want to make a suggestion.  You do not have to follow the image I provided to you of the Website, many of you are basing your design off of that design, that is fine. Don't limit yourself to that depiction. That design was made for me for free by a 15 year old art student from London that I chatted with on DeviantArt.com.  Take that into consideration please as I am going to expect more from you. This is the first of many contest I will hold and I am looking forward to building relationships with capable, creative, competent artist.  Good Luck!!

Just for a bit of clarity for all, the most important aspect of the whole design is the symbol that goes in the fore head, so it is not to be neglected.  Thanks

I want to thank everyone for their hard work, and making this experience both fulfilling and informative.  As a gesture of good will, I have allocated money for 2nd and 3rd places.  I have gotten some really solid designs and want to make certain the top 3 designers are compensated for their time.  Thank you.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: We have a few late comers to the game, so I am extending the deadline by 3 days and I am sweetening the pool a bit by adding a 4th and 5th place. Gutter BrudderZ

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: Due to a discrepancy in time zones and some last minute tweaks for the final few I have extended the deadline for two days. No new designers will be accepted as I have about 8 to 9 finalist to choose from. I will be messaging each of the finalist personally to let you know who you are, so that you have the option to show me tweaks you might offer on you own designs. I appreciate everyone's hard work and I am adding 4th and 5th places to reward as many of you as I can for your time and patience. Thank you. Gutter BrudderZ

Now that this contest is coming to an end, I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and time.  I'm glad I got the chance to communicate and work with each of you.  The purpose of this contest for me was 1. ) Meet all of you 2.) Evaluate your abilities to follow direction and artistic creativity 3.) Make you familiar with a subject matter you will be drawing.  I have been impressed by many of you and look forward to working with all of you again. Here is the voting poll of the Final 8.  For those in the poll, I urge you to vote and share with your friends and family so that they may vote for you as well.  For those who did not make the Final 8, I urge you to view the poll and vote. You will benefit from this by seeing what everyone else was doing and you will have a better working knowledge for the next contest.  If you have a design that was not chosen and want to continue working on it and receiving feedback, you can reach me at:              hewhoburns@mail.com

The voting poll is here:

Allocated some more money to pay top six designers for their participation.  Waiting for DesignCrowd to take care of that from their side.Once that's done, decisions will be posted immediately.  Thanks everyone!

I feel the need to address this particular situation regarding the voting poll and eliminations.  The e-mail I sent with respect to anonymity

Hello XXXXX
,

Allow me to first to apologize for the tardiness of my response as I have been quite busy. Second if you are disappointed at not placing I apologize if you feel I mislead you with the voting poll.  Please allow me to explain.

1.) I have a company to run, my job is to find talented artist, gauge their respective abilities, and recruit them into a pool or network of graphic artist, for the sole purpose of designing clothing and other apparel.

2.) Every project in the business world is allocated a budget.  I initially allocated a budget of $300 to this project. I was impressed with the talent of work I was receiving, so I increased the budget to $500 by adding 2 more places.  I went even further as more talent came to the fray and increased my budget to $800 by adding three more places.  I wish I had enough money to spare to pay everyone in the top 8 but; unfortunately, there are other business interest of monetary nature I must mind as well.

3.) I personally hate when people waste my time and I do understand your disappointment; however, this was a contest.  No one guaranteed to you, that you would win anything.  Every other artist understood that as well.  If you are going to be successful on DesignCrowd you will need to learn some resilience.  "Lose the battle, but don't lose the lesson."  I eliminated two other artist as well as you.  One design I didn't really like when compared to his/her peers, he/she  placed ninth.  Another design I eliminated because it was still slightly flawed, this person worked tirelessly, I admired his/her tenacity; but graded against his/her peers he/she did not rank in the top 6.  You my friend ranked 7th and it was hard for me to choose between you and another.  The deciding factor was basically viability of design or in layman's terms 'how quickly I can make something marketable with your design.'  You were edged out ever so slightly there.  Your design was eliminated for lack of detail and feeling.

4.) For comparison sake I will now explain to you why the 1st place winner won.  I used the voting poll on MY peers for feedback.  The winner "sold me on his design" through his presentation and professionalism.  He gave to me a logo that incorporated everything I asked for.  I had to give him very little feedback and I was supremely impressed by his very first submission.  He showed me in his first submission two mock-ups and a "real world presentation" of those mock-ups.  He raised the bar significantly.  Among my peers, he ranked 3rd, but to me, a salesman myself, he ranked 1st.

5.) The voting poll, after I opened it to you, was an opportunity for you to share your design with your friends and family and it also allowed me to get some unbiased feedback.  Unfortunately, there are always cheaters in every game.  It soon became apparent to me that the poll was being skewed.  Perhaps by intentional methods, but more likely by unintentional methods.  Many people who voted only voted on their friends and didn't rate all the others submissions as well.  Also there was the security issue that any individual could vote as many time as they want.  I will tell you now, I attend University for Information Systems and Security Assurance.  I am no fool when it comes to using technology, the information of the voting poll became corrupted and the poll was no longer a viable metric due to the duplicitous nature of the human element.

I hope I have answered all your questions thoroughly.  Once again I am truly sorry for your disappointment.  Believe me when I say this contest was a 'business meeting,' a meeting of minds if you will.  I extended to you an invitation for subsequent opportunity from which I received no response.  I do hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you,

Cory Wall
