We are working on a demo flash program that is going to manage a TV quiz.
It's a rather simple design im looking for, for the screens of the game. The design will be integrated into the flash program.
The Basic details are that there are 2 players playing against each other.
They select either a depatment or a region (comprises of several departments) in the south east of France and answer a question on that department or region.
If they answer the question right that area turns thier color. At the end the person with the most surface wins !
These are the 4 regions the game is dealt with :
Languedoc - http://bit.ly/jCZnoM
Auvergne (region) - http://bit.ly/lYhsgE
Rhône-Alpes - http://bit.ly/lkBOFt
Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur - http://bit.ly/lSuU4Q
one idea may be to use the region / department coat of arms :
Blasons de France - http://bit.ly/iikH6b
The name of the show is "LA GRANDE CONQUÊTE" in english "The great conquest"
Yes, i asked the client if he wanted a medieval theme becuase conquest to me brings that period to mind. However the client does 'not necessarily' want a medieval theme but not excluding it. They want a fun theme !
As i said this is for the pilot of the show which will take place in a few weeks.
If the pilot is retained, then there will be alot of work needed on the retained design to adapt for different seasons/editions (like xmas or halloween)
What i require is :
1) A very simple logo (at the moment it is only the title in a certain font in a certain perspective like this : http://screencast.com/t/VnJ3F4M3O1b ) so just looking for something in the same spirit with a little creativity - like a spear somewhere or something...
2) A proposal for the main screen (with the map) - at the moment its this : http://screencast.com/t/fKpvNVyiVf (never mind the red instructions)
The few designers that get the go ahead can then make a proposal for 3)
I REALLY DO SUGGEST TO ONLY SUBMIT 1+2 INITIALLY PLEASE AS I DON'T WANT ANYONE DOING UNNECESSARY WORK- ONCE WE VALIDATE THE DIRECTION OF 1+2 THEN YOU CAN PROGRESS TO 3+4
3) A proposal for the Region selection screen : http://screencast.com/t/oyGfNYjLo7t (the region becomes detached from the map and appears bigger with the map in the background, or something else)
The final designer choosen can then quickly put something together for 4
4) A proposal for the Department question screen : http://screencast.com/t/bqu6G2vd (the red backgound color represents the countdown as it moves to replace the black to indicate to the player how much time they have left to reply) The questions will be on one or two lines and have two or three answers below them.
When a user selects an option that option is outlined in some way for 2 seonds before it turning a CORRECT color or a WRONG color (with the right answer then being highlighted)
The area for the question (at the bottom of the screen) must always be the same dimensions
Here is the only instructions given by client :
. Logo creation : simple yet instantly recognisable, sets the theme
. 2 very different colors for the candidates
. warm fun colors as it will be televised during the day
- please keep the dimensions 16/9 (1440px x 810)
- needs to appeal to kids, parents and grandparents
- Do not have the map too busy.
- The map has to have the numbers of the departments. And the names of the 4 regions.
- The question band is always at the bottom and takes up 1/4 of the screen
- have nothing at the top right of the screen (the tv logo will go there.)
See here : http://screencast.com/t/yL9OBtE1p
PS: I'm attaching a PSD of the departments and regions that people can play with if they wish.
PS : I'm also attaching a more detailed description of the game and how it will work (that the developer is using to build it) it may be too much info for a designer but its there anyhow.
Question : can you provide your designs in vector format ? (not the map of course as i already have that)
Updates
Hi Guys, I just wanted to send a quick update as one of the important points has escaped a few of ye.
- The question band is always at the bottom and takes up 1/4 of the screen like here : http://screencast.com/t/yL9OBtE1p
this is important as the techncians will cut this question and put it on the screen that shows the candidate so we see the question under the candidate. For this reason its important that it takes up this space and only this space and that no elements are spilling on to the upper section of the screen.
Any questions just shout!
Tnx

Hi everyone,
many thanks to everyone that has submitted designs so far - some great food for thought. I will present all preselected designs to client just after the weekend so still loads of time.
however there is one important point to underline :
Alot of people are just reproducing the map i sent with the brief (attached in psd format to the project). it was meant to save everybody a lot of time so they could just go about styling it.
this will in fact be one of the most important parts becuase so many people will spend so long looking at it ! so it really needs to be quite cool (using textures or 3d or something special )
background needs to be also quite cool whilst not taking too much from the map yet blending in nicely into to whole decor
tnx
