Brief de Web Design

Stanthorpe Festivals Association Inc is a not-for-profit organisation charged with the responsibility to deliver the iconic Stanthorpe Apple & Grape Festival.

This festival is held biennially in the town of Stanthorpe, located on the Queensland/New South Wales border in Australia. Since it’s humble beginnings back in 1954, the Apple & Grape Festival (originally known as “Back to Stanthorpe Week”) is one of Queensland’s Iconic Events attracting more than 52,000 visitors over the 3 days of the festival.

The Apple & Grape Festival celebrates the harvest of two of Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt’s major agricultural industries. The Festival culminates on the weekend with street performers, stalls, bands and a multicultural fiesta in the park celebrating our region’s diversity and the products we are now famous for; primarily wine.

The continued success of the Festival is its ability to adapt and reinvent itself year after year. Stanthorpe Festivals Inc is now looking for a new website to reflect this success, the vibrancy of the event and the overall fun to be had.

The next Apple & Grape Harvest Festival will be the golden jubilee (50th anniversary).

Design Vision

Your template design should meet the following design requirements:


• Be designed for Joomla! 3.x CMS

• Vibrant ‘fun’ design reflecting the principles of the Festival - Apples, Grapes, Multiculturalism,
Food, Wine, Music, Entertainment

• Utilise the colours red, green. purple and gold (as it is the golden jubilee)

• Use a clean set of web fonts striking a balance between design and load time

• Have various module positions

• May not be branded by the designer

• Must be responsive


This website will be the online presence for the Festival, so should provide a framework to easily deliver information to visitors wishing to attend. It is essential that the design be compatible with as many browsers and devices as possible to provide a unified experience to all online visitors.

The General Public: The Apple & Grape Harvest Festival appeals to a broad audience from young to old.

Sponsors: The Apple & Grape Harvest Festival could not be possible without the support of sponsors. The template design should feature a somewhat prominent position to display event sponsors to give them recognition for the valued donation.

Business: The Festival attracts a large number of street vendors and stall holders.

Volunteers: Volunteers provide a vital service ensuring the event is a success.

Media: Being an Iconic Event, the Apple & Grape Harvest Festival attracts a large amount of media attention.
