I like to get meaning into a logo so that it's not completely vague or totally abstract, even if it's very subtle. Also, I'm a fan of witty design (and I don't mean cartoons). I mean clever design, a play on words, hidden meanings. If there is a chance to make someone smile, do it. Finally, I have an unwritten rule when designing logos... my first idea is usually the most obvious and, therefore, should be avoided because it's probably been done a thousand times before (if you notice me designing the obvious, give me a virtual slap for it, I'm obviously being lazy). hide
