He studied Mass Communication major in Multimedia Arts at University of Cordillera Past year ago i work junior graphic designer at Media Central located at Sm City Rosales, Pangasinan, I learned the ropes of event banner design, working on layouts for each issue and artworking pages ready for print. I was also responsible for the day-to-day organisation of the art department, such as finding and supervising interns and working on any extra design projects outside of the issue. After a year of working in this role, I was promoted to my current role as senior designer. A typical day still involves working on layouts and designing pages, but I am now more involved with the overall process, such as commissioning/art directing illustration and photography for the large format printing productions.There is the opportunity for me to explore interactive design. As a senior designer, I have more responsibility and work more closely with the art director and editor-in-chief. Working online jobs at my house has helped me develop as a designer, along with giving me the opportunity to meet and work with talented creative people on a daily basis, including photographers, writers, architects, stylists, illustrators… and many others. The role does have its challenges; you need to be organised and be able to keep calm under pressure in order to meet deadlines. Being open to feedback and willing to make changes to your designs is also important. If your art director is unhappy with your work, it will not go to print, so sometimes you have to make changes to what you believe is right. In the future, I would like to continue my working profile best i can, although I would also like the opportunity to work in a studio environment, with the long-term aim of opening my own studio one day. If you are considering working in this industry, I would encourage you to apply for internships at design studios. These are often advertised on studio websites, or you could take the initiative and send your portfolio to the studios you like with a concise cover letter. If it impresses, you may well be invited for an interview. Whilst on a placement, it is important to be enthusiastic, have a positive attitude, and try to make yourself heard. The industry tends to work around interns, and design agencies will recommend those who have impressed them or contact them if there are suitable opportunities in the future. hide
